A chamber ensemble of local musicians channels while you lie on the floor\, fully receiving\, exactly where you are. \nThen we will experience the full sensory experience of Kace’s newest 40-minute album\, From the Perspective of Earth\, together\, complete with active listening zine. The state of the art sound system at Reforester Laboratory will fill our bodies with the sounds of the planets. \nOne song/page per planet\, genreless and wordless\, drifting from total ambient stillness into fully danceable grooves and back again. \nA limited edition physical listening zine designed by Elly Kace will be available for purchase for $20. It contains unconventional graphic scores to follow or scribble on\, somatic prompts to notice what’s happening in your body as each planet moves through the room\, and blank space for your own thoughts as they come up. \nThe night wraps with a short reception\, a soft landing to talk\, integrate\, and reconnect with the people you just shared a floor with before heading back out into earthly life. \nCreated by composer and sound healer Elly Kace\, this experience is limited to an intimate number of participants. DESCRIPTION:Discover the art and philosophy of Kintsugi — the Japanese practice of repairing broken pottery with gold — in this all-level\, hands-on work \n\n\n\n\n\nKintsugi Workshop: Repair and Reconnect with Mami Takahashi\nJanuary 16\, 2027\n10:30am – 12:30pm\n“Kintsugi teaches us that scars are part of the story — not something to hide\, but something to honor. As we repair\, we reflect. As we mend\, we transform.” \nIn this 3-hour session\, students will learn and apply the modern Kintsugi method using food-safe adhesive\, epoxy putty\, and golden finish. The technique is safe for beginners and designed to make the centuries-old practice accessible in a single-day format. Rather than erasing damage\, Kintsugi highlights each crack as part of an object’s unique story — inviting us to reflect on beauty\, imperfection\, and transformation. \nFor beginner students\, a broken porcelain or ceramic plate will be provided\, allowing them to experience the full repair process from start to finish.For returning students\, or those with previous experience\, you’re welcome to bring your own broken ceramic objects (must be clean) or choose from more complex forms provided by the instructor. \nThis workshop offers a supportive\, meditative space for reflection and creativity. All materials are provided\, and finger covers are available to use\, though handling epoxy can sometimes leave a light residue for a day or two. \n“Kintsugi is based on the philosophy that breakage and repair are something to celebrate – embracing flaws and imperfections creates a stronger and more beautiful piece of art. DESCRIPTION:Explore the artistry of traditional Japanese paper-making with Human Body Watermarks\, led by artist Mami Takahashi. \n\n\n\n\n\nJapanese Papermaking (Washi) Workshop with Mami Takahashi\nJanuary 30\, 2027\n10:30am – 12:30pm\nDiscover the art of traditional Japanese papermaking in this hands-on workshop. Participants will create their own sheets of Washi using Eastern Asian plant fibers such as kozo (paper mulberry) and hemp\, materials that have been used for centuries in Japan for books\, calligraphy\, architecture\, and everyday life. \nThe workshop begins with an introduction to the history of Washi and the differences between Eastern and Western papermaking traditions\, exploring how the intended use of paper influenced the fibers\, tools\, and techniques used in each culture. \nParticipants will then learn the fundamentals of sheet formation and create several handmade papers of their own. Decorative options will include natural and preserved plant materials\, flowers\, and fibers\, allowing each participant to create unique compositions. Techniques such as embossing and watermark-inspired impressions will also be introduced for those interested in adding texture and imagery to their paper.
