Ticket Purchase and Refund Policy
Tickets can be purchased online or at the door. Online purchasers receive a confirmation email and can check in with the order number or purchaser's last name. Online tickets don't expire. At-the-door tickets are available during regular hours.
Refunds for online tickets are available within 30 days of purchase. Contact customer service with your order number and reason for cancellation. Refunds take 5-7 business days. Full refunds are given for unforeseen closures or technical issues.
Online Ticket Purchase:
- Confirmation: When purchasing tickets online, you will receive a confirmation email with an order number sent to the email address provided during checkout.
- Check-In: To enter the museum, present either your order number from the confirmation email or provide the purchaser’s last name at the front desk. Our staff will verify your information and provide admission.
- Ticket Expiry: Tickets purchased online do not expire and can be used anytime during our regular operating hours.
At the Door Ticket Purchase:
- Tickets can also be purchased directly at the museum’s front desk during our regular operating hours.

- General Refund Policy: We understand plans can change unexpectedly. If you need to cancel your visit, refunds for online ticket purchases are allowed within 30 days of purchase.
- How to Request a Refund: To request a refund, please get in touch with our customer service team at info@imss.org with your order number and reason for cancellation.
- Refund Processing: Refunds will be processed using the original method of payment used during the purchase. Please allow 5-7 business days for the refund to appear in your account.
Exceptions:
- Operation Cancellations: In the event of unforeseen circumstances, such as museum closures due to weather or other emergencies, we will offer full refunds for tickets purchased for affected dates/times.
- Ticketing Issues: If there are any technical issues with your online ticket purchase, please contact us immediately for assistance. We will work to resolve the issue promptly.

Event Ticket Purchase
- Where can I purchase tickets for events? Tickets for our events can be purchased on Eventbrite or through our website at IMSS.org.
- How do I receive my event tickets? After purchasing tickets, you will receive a confirmation email with your ticket(s) attached. Please bring either a printed copy of your ticket or have it available on your mobile device for entry.
- Can I purchase tickets at the door? Depending on availability, tickets may be available for purchase at the door. We recommend purchasing in advance to secure your spot.
- Are there age restrictions for events? Age restrictions may vary depending on the event. Please check the event details or contact us for specific information.

- Is there parking available on site? No, there is no parking available on-site at our museum.
- Where can I park? Validated parking is available at:
- 1350 N Lake Shore Drive
- Chicago History Museum parking lot on Stockton Drive

Refund Policy for Events
General Refund Policy:
- Refunds: Tickets purchased for events are non-refundable, except in extenuating circumstances such as event cancellation or significant changes.
- Requesting a Refund: If you believe you have an extenuating circumstance that warrants a refund, please contact us at info@imss.org with your order number and reason for the refund request.
- Refund Processing: Refunds, if approved, will be processed to the original method of payment used during the purchase. Please allow 5-7 business days for the refund to appear in your account.
- Event Cancellation: In the event of event cancellation by the museum or event organizer, full refunds will be issued automatically to all ticket holders.
