Unseen & Underheard: Artist Talk with Cheri Lee Charlton

Cheri Lee Charlton will be sharing her experience and research from her residency at the International Museum of Surgical Science October 22nd at 6:30 PM.
Cheri used the artist residency as an opportunity to create an exhibition that focuses on the medical professions history of misdiagnosing and failing women throughout history. Topics for the pieces she created range from ‘wondering womb’ theories from ancient Greece, the overused umbrella diagnosis of hysteria, to the modern issues related to gender, fertility, and birth control. In her artist talk she will be sharing the stories, history, medical practices and objects that inspired the in addition to sharing her artistic process of creating the large-scale watercolor illustrations she currently has on display at the museum.
