Forthcoming Exhibition: Conquering Heart Disease

The International Museum of Surgical Science pleased to announce the development of a new exhibit on cardiovascular surgery and health. This important exhibit will highlight the most current medical innovations in the field. Over the next several years, over 150,000 people will visit this exhibit to supplement their understanding of healthcare treatments related to the heart. 

Cardiovascular surgery began in the 1950’s and has evolved to encompass vascular & cardiac treatment of patients of all ages, improving quality and extending length of life to millions of patients throughout the world. Physiological research, development of new techniques, and technological advancements have facilitated  progress in this specialty.

This exhibit will review the evolution of the field of cardiovascular surgery & the state-of-the-art technology in the 21st century. Topics will include development of the heart lung machine, coronary bypass and heart valve surgery, cardiac pacemakers and defibrillators, stroke prevention surgery, abdominal aortic aneurysm repair, artificial heart and transplant surgery.
