Handmade screen prints by Artist-in-Residence Kathleen Gallo
Screen printing is a printing technique where a mesh screen is used to
transfer ink onto paper, except in areas that a stencil covers. Artists can
create multiple stencils to complete a design that is reproduced in series. An
ink-covered-squeegee is dragged across the screen to fill the open mesh with
ink, thus imprinting the ink around the stencil, through the mesh, and onto the
paper underneath. One color is printed at a time; so, several screens can be
used to produce a multi-colored image or design.

This print is from a digitally created stencil from a photograph of my first
forensic post-mortem facial reconstruction. This sculpture would lead to a
conclusive identification in 2018. I superimposed my notes from working with
the skull alongside his finished facial approximation.
