Plague Doctor – Italian Comedy – Mask – Half-Page Prints

The drawing has been printed on a thick matte paper and measures 5.5" x 8.5"

(half us letter size).

Each print is protected in a clear cellophane sleeve. Frames are not included.

This illustration was initially a part of a series of costume designs for a

show produced by the royal swedish opera, in stockholm. I drew this character

by hand and colored it with colored pencils. The plague doctor or medico della

peste in italian, is a character of la commedia dell'arte (the italian comedy).

Commedia dell'arte was an early form of professional theatre, originating in

italy, that was popular throughout europe between the 16th and 18th centuries.
