Handmade screen prints by Artist-in-Residence Kathleen Gallo
Screen printing is a printing technique where a mesh screen is used to
transfer ink onto paper, except in areas that a stencil covers. Artists can
create multiple stencils to complete a design that is reproduced in series. An
ink-covered-squeegee is dragged across the screen to fill the open mesh with
ink, thus imprinting the ink around the stencil, through the mesh, and onto the
paper underneath. One color is printed at a time; so, several screens can be
used to produce a multi-colored image or design.

This image is the profile of the skull from the facial reconstruction of case
#17-0019. The dots in the diagram are where the tissue depth markers are placed
on the skull to measure the depth of the clay when sculpting. The two parallel
red lines indicate ear placement.
